    Q:
How to replace the Air Inject Check Valve and Pipe on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
Replacing the secondary air injection (AIR) check valve and pipe begins with disassembly of the air hoses combined with the removal of the check valve and the center air pipe and subsequent detachment of the upper Exhaust Manifold heat shield. The bolt unfastening of the air pipe must be followed by its separation from the Exhaust Manifold through air pipe bank 1 and air pipe bank 2 detachment. Install the new air pipes by placing their gaskets onto the surfaces and clean the Exhaust Manifold thoroughly to achieve proper sealing. The installation requires gm p/n 5613695 anti-seize compound or equivalent on the air pipe nipple to manifold and the bolts along with the air check valve. Apply the Exhaust Manifold bolts to new air pipes of air pipe bank 1 and air pipe bank 2 until the torque reaches 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Begin with reattaching both upper Exhaust Manifold heat shields and then install the center air pipe and the air check valve. Tighten the check valve to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). The completion includes attaching the air hoses while installing fuse clamps along with leakage verification checks.

    Q:
How to service the Air Inject Check Valve on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service of the air injection check valve starts with air hose clamps and hoses removal before taking out the air check valve from the center air pipe and center air pipe. The targeted operation begins with removing upper Exhaust Manifold heat shield and unbolted connection between Exhaust Manifold and air pipe so you can remove air pipe bank 1 and air pipe bank 2. Install the air pipe gaskets onto the new air pipes before you clean the Exhaust Manifold surface to achieve a tight seal. Include gm p/n 5613695 anti-seize compound along with equivalent products on all components between air pipe nipple and manifold and bolts and air check valve. Repeat the installation process for the exhaust manifolds with both air pipe bank 1 and air pipe bank 2 by fixing the bolts at 20 n.m (15 lb ft). After reattaching the upper heat shields to the Exhaust Manifold workers should install the center air pipe along with the air check valve. The check valve needs to be tightened up to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). When connecting the air hoses install the air hose clamps and verify air leaks around each line.
