    Q:
How to replace the canister purge valves on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the evap canister purge valve start by unbending the filler fuel cap to allow the system to air out and then remove the intake plenum. Next, remove the valve bracket mounting bolt and remove the harness connector from the valve. Pull out the purge line from the evap service port and remove the valve to have access to the vacuum source line. Lift from the valve and throw away the clamp before removal of purge valve by detaching the vacuum source line. In installation, connect the hookup of the vacuum source to the valve with a new clamp, next is the installation of the valve and take off of the evap service port to the purge line. Redo the harness connector and fasten the evap canister purge valve bracket mounting bolt, tightening it to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Finally, reinstall the intake plenum and the fuel filler cap should be tightened.
