2000 Buick Regal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Delphi CS130D alternator on 2000 Buick Regal?
A: Service starts by disconnecting the battery negative cable followed by removing both the generator Drive Belt and its rear brace. Service operations on the generator begin by removing bolts 1 and 3 and stud and disconnecting the electrical connector and removing the protective boot from the generator output bat terminal to access the system. Prior to generator removal always disconnect the positive battery lead from the generator output bat terminal and untighten its terminal nut. Installation requires generator placement against the engine followed by the connection of the positive battery lead along with the generator output bat terminal nut which must be tightened to a torque of 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Press the protective boot to the generator output bat terminal before attaching the electrical connector. Tighten the generator bracket by starting the generator stud along with bolts (1,3). Follow this mandatory order when tightening the components: the generator bolt requires an initial torque of 50 n.m (37 lb ft) followed by the generator stud receipt of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Finally the generator rear bracket bolt exceeds 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Reinstall the generator rear brace and install the Drive Belt from the generator while reconnecting the battery's negative terminal cable.
