To service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/switch, it is first necessary to wait for the engine to cool down, so as not to have too much coolant evaporate or injury to the person. Start by draining a small amount of the coolant system. Then, take out the intake plenum and the Intake Manifold. Unplug the harness that connects to the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and then you remove the ect sensor from the bridge of the coolant, and clean away any coolant spill. For installation, apply a non-hardening sealer to sensor threads to avoid leaks of coolant, applying p/n 1050805 or equivalent. Mount the ect sensor into the coolant bridge and torque to 21n.m (15 lb ft). Reconnect the ect sensor's wiring harness and then reinstall the Intake Manifold and the intake plenum. Finally, refill the coolant system.
