2000 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the radiator on 2000 Cadillac DeVille?
A: Service and repair operations on the Radiator begin with removing the cooling fans. Detach the outlet Radiator Hose connected to the Radiator by using the hose clamp remover/installer (J37097-A). The Radiator receives its dual connection through removal of the lower transaxle oil cooler line and lower engine oil cooler line. Hose clamp pliers (J38185) should be used to disconnect the generator cooler inlet hose from the Radiator. Use special care to avoid damaging the lower mounting areas of both Radiator and condenser while removing their two mounting bolts. Lifting the condenser will allow you to release its bottom feet from the Radiator mounting features at the front before you can lift the Radiator free from the vehicle. The installation starts with installation of Radiator insulators to the frame before positioning the Radiator alignment dowels to match the insulators. First secure the condenser by mounting the lower feet correctly against the Radiator front features then fasten it with special length bolts to 13 nm (115 inch lbs.). The hose clamp pliers (J38185) should be used to join the generator cooler inlet hose with the Radiator and establish a connection for the lower engine oil cooler which requires tightening to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Tighten the connection of the lower transaxle oil cooler line by 35 nm torque at 26 ft. Lbs while keeping it oriented with the upper position. To finish the process use hose clamp remover/installer (J37097-A) to apply the outlet Radiator Hose on the Radiator then return the cooling fans.
