• Q: How to replace the water pump on 2000 Cadillac DeVille?

  A: Start Water Pump work by draining the cooling system. Start replacement after removing the upper filler panel, air cleaner assembly and air injection valve alongside loosening the oil level indicator nut and Water Pump belt cover. Sever the Water Pump Drive Belt first and then cut the radiator outlet hose loose with hose clamp pliers (J38185). Remove the water cover bolts and the cover after disconnecting the heater return hose. Fasten the Water Pump remove & install tool module j38816-a into Water Pump sockets and place its support plate onto the seal housing cross area for correct alignment. Twisting the j38816-a counterclockwise will free the Water Pump while you detach the support plate and Water Pump from the vehicle. Clean both sides of the water crossover and pump cover by taking off their seal. Put the new seal into the water crossover space with its locking ear placed at the 7 o'clock direction. Adjust the Water Pump locking ears to fit the tangs of the water crossover and place j38816-a back into position. Then tighten the support plate. Turn j38816-a to the left to reach 100 nm of torque on the Water Pump installation. Set the Water Pump cover on the heater return hose then place it over the water housing crossover before bolting it down using torque setting of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Thread the radiator outlet hose to the Thermostat Housing using hose clamp pliers (J38185) to connect them. Install the Water Pump Drive Belt along with the Water Pump belt cover and tighten the oil level indicator tube nut to 10 nm (89 inch lbs). Reconnect the air injection control valve, air filter and upper filler panel before filling the cooling system.
