The service requires removal of both maf sensor bolts and air cleaner intake duct while functioning as one unit. Inspect the Throttle Body bore while opening the throttle valve to examine every surface of the throttle valve plate. Any solvent solution containing methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) needs to be avoided for protection of fuel system components. Wipe the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate clean with gm top engine cleaner (product # 1052626) or ac-delco carburetor tune-up conditioner (product # X66-P) together with a shop towel. Installation must include proper alignment of the air cleaner assembly outlet and maf sensor inlet duct to prevent incorrect airflow measurements from triggering the mil and driving problems. After installing the maf sensor with three bolts the air cleaner intake duct functions as one unit where bolt torques on the maf sensor anchors exceed 8 n.m (71 lb in) before powering the maf sensor electrical connection.
