Throttle Body

Service of the Throttle Body begins with disconnecting the maf sensor electrical connector yet maintaining the screen's integrity since damage to this area can block airflow and cause driveability problems. Service professionals should disconnect the maf sensor electrical connection while loosening intake air duct clamps to extract the assembled mass air flow (MAF) sensor and air cleaner intake duct. Use the throttle valve position to check the surfaces on the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate. Connect the maf sensor alongside the air cleaner intake duct assembly before securing the intake duct clamps at 3 n.m (27 lb in) torque setting before hooking up the maf sensor cable.

To service the Throttle Body to start by removing the mass air flow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor electrical connector from the maf/iat sensor and then remove the maf/iat sensor assembly without damaging the maf sensor screen because it could reduce the flow of air and affect the performace of the drivline. Check the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate for deposits, throttle valve may need to be opened to check all surfaces, do not use any solvent containing methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) as it will destroy fuel system components. Mount the maf/iat sensor assembly and plug maf/iat sensor electrical connector back to maf/iat sensor while tightening maf/iat sensor clamps to 3n.m(27lb in).

Install the maf sensor and air cleaner intake duct in an assembly before clamping the intake air duct clamps to 3 nm (27 lb in) before reattaching the maf sensor electrical connector.

Install the MAF sensor and air cleaner intake duct as an assembly, tighten the intake air duct clamps to 3 N.m (27 lb in), and reconnect the MAF sensor electrical connector.
