  A: You should apply the a/c refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharging (ACR4) system (J 39500-B) to recover refrigerant as an initial step for replacement of the accumulator. The process begins by removing accumulator inlet and outlet fittings then moving onto retaining bolts and finally taking out the accumulator from its mounting bracket. You should then take off the insulator cover from the accumulator. The electronic halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) should be used to attach the insulator cover to the accumulator before reattaching the accumulator to its mounting bracket. Screw in the retention bolts before securing them at 4 n.m using an 35 lb in torque setting. After that proceed to connect the inlet and outlet refrigerant lines to the accumulator by installing new dual o-rings before tightening the dual o-ring fittings to 24 n.m (18 lb ft).
