2000 Cadillac Eldorado Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the computer on 2000 Cadillac Eldorado?
A: When servicing the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer), before doing anything, allow the engine time to cool down to avoid large loss of coolant or personal injury. Rigorously handle the coolant sensor since damage will influence the running of the fuel control system. Start by partially draining the coolant system, discone the ECT sensor electrical connector (uncrack) as well as remove the ECT sensor. For installation, coat the threads of the sensor with a non-hardening sealer to eliminate leakage of coolants using P/N 1050805 or equivalent. Replace the ECT sensor with installed themetic one and tighten to 16-24 N.m (12-18 lb ft), reconnect ECT sensor electrical connector, and fill up the entire coolant system.
