How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the computer on Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
One has to first turn OFF the ignition and relieve the coolant pressure to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer). Soak the coolant just enough to avoid spillage upon removal ofyon sensor, then disconnect the ECT sensor to the electrical connector. Then with the help of a deep well socket and an extension, take off the sensor. For installation, apply on the thread of the engine coolant temperature sensor sealer P/N 9985253 or similar and put the sensor on the engine, then tighten the sensor with 23 N.m (17 lb ft). Reconnect the ECT sensor with its electrical connector, fill the coolant system, start the engine, and check for leaks and coolant level.

    Q:
How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on Buick LeSabre? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by turning the ignition OFF before draining coolant so that it reaches a level lower than the ECT sensor. After disconnecting the electrical connector you must remove the ECT sensor with proper care. Use sealer GM P/N 9985253 or equivalent to cover the ECT sensor threads before installing the new component while confirming the replacement components have the proper application-specific part numbers. First tighten the ECT sensor at 20 N.m (15 lb ft) then connect the ECT harness connector to the sensor. Finally, refill the cooling system. Working with the coolant sensor requires special caution because any damage will impair the system's ability to properly operate fuel control and fuel injection functions. Perform all torque specifications correctly to prevent component damage while staying alert about the necessity of thread locking compounds and lubrication materials and corrosion inhibitors or sealants that need specified use.

How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch on Buick LeSabre? Posted by Customer
    A:
To service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/switch, one is needed to turn the ignition off and drain the Radiator coolant as a starting point. Carefully pull off the ect sensor shield that is encircling the ect sensor, and unplug the ect sensor electrical connector from the ect sensor and remove it from the engine. Upon installation, it is important not to destroy the engine Coolant Temperature Sensor because this would influence the operation of the fuel injection system. Mount the ect sensor into the engine and secure it with the torque of 25 nm (18 lb ft). Next, join the electrical connector to the ect sensor and wrap the ect sensor shield around it. Start the engine, fill Radiator with coolant, again check for leaks, and check the coolant and at last.
