How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

When replacing the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT), start by partially draining the cooling system. Unplug the ECT sensor electrical connector and pull the sensor out. In the event of installing the new ECT sensor, make sure that the replacing component is the appropriate part number for the application. Apply sealer GM P/N 13246004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or an equivalent on the threads. Mount the ECT sensor onto the engine front and tighten it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Last, join the ECT electric connector and top up the cooling system.
