    A: To change the Engine Coolant Temperature ECT sensor, start by partially draining the cooling system. Unplug ECT sensor electrical connector and remove the sensor. When you replace the new ECT sensor, be sure to use the right part number, which will vary depending on the application. Threading should be coated with sealer GM P/N 13246004 (10283539) or equivalent. Mount the ECT sensor and tighten it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Finally, connect the ECT, electrical connector and the cooling system must be filled. Take precautions when dealing with the coolant sensor because damages can interfere with the service of the fuel control system.
