2002 Cadillac Eldorado Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?
A: In order to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor first turn OFF the ignition and drain the coolant to below the ECT level. Unplug the ECT sensor and take it out. For the installation of the new ECT sensor, treat with care to prevent damages that can disrupt the fuel control system. Make sure that replacement parts are the correct part number for the application and be aware that some will need thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors or sealants which should only be used if stated as these effects final torque and component operation. Seal the sensor threads with a sealer GM P/N 1050805 or any other similar type, and then install the ECT sensor and tighten it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Attach the connector to the ECT sensor, and fill up the coolant system.
