How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Draining the cooling system should be the first step for replacing the engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. Remove the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor from the Cylinder Head by disconnecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the ect sensor . During the new sensor installation use replacement parts that match the exact specifications needed for this application. Sealant gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent must be used for thread coating on the original sensor before re-installation. Tighten the ect sensor onto the Cylinder Head with 20 n.m (15 lb ft). To complete the operation connect the ect sensor to its electrical connector from the engine harness and complete cooling system reloading.
