  • Q: How to replace the ignition coil on 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
    A: To remove the Ignition Coil, remove the outlet resonator of the air cleaner, then reduce the chassis fuel feed pipe quick connect fitting, from the engine fuel feed pipe. Then, remove the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and remove connector from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve. Take the engine wiring harness connector position assurance (CPA) retainer from the fuel meter body and remove electrical connector from the fuel meter body. Carefully clip off the engine wiring harness clips (1, 2) from the engine harness brackets, then off the rear bracket bolts and bracket. Note the position of the Spark Plug Wires before disconnecting them (1, 2) from the Ignition Coil and bring them out of the way. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the Ignition Coil and place the branches where they will not interfere with the work. Take away Ignition Coil bolts and coil from the bracket, and in case it is required, remove Ignition Coil bracket bolts and bracket. Location of the Ignition Coil bracket at the lower Intake Manifold and securing the bolt with 12 n.m (106 lb in). Mount the Ignition Coil on to the bracket by placing it and tighten the bolts as well to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Mount the engine wiring harness branches where necessary, secure the electrical connector to the Ignition Coil, and route the Spark Plug Wires. Connect the color coded Spark Plug Wires (1, 2) to the color coded-ish motor base Ignition Coil as marked during removal, then install the engine wiring harness rear bracket to the upper Intake Manifold and go ahead and bolt them in place, from 10nm (89 lb in) here. Mount the engine wiring harness clips (1, 2) on the engine harness brackets, attach the electrical connector to the fuel meter body, and attach the cpa retainer at the fuel meter body. Join the evap canister purge solenoid valve and the MAP Sensor with the ribbon of the electrical connector and connect the chassis fuel feed pipe quick connect fitting to the engine fuel feed pipe before mounting the air cleaner outlet resonator.
