• Q: How to replace the ignition coil on 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

  A: In order to change the Ignition Coil, there is need to remove the air cleaner outlet resonator. Remove the chassis fuel feed pipe quick connect fitting from the engine fuel feed pipe as well as the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor. Then, take off the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve, remove the engine wiring harness connector position assurance (CPA) retainer from the fuel meter body, and disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the fuel meter body. Remove the clips from the engine harness brackets (1, 2) from the engine harness brackets, then remove the engine wiring harness rear bracket bolts and bracket. Noted that which direction the Spark Plug Wires go before disconnecting them from the Ignition Coil, then disconnect the Spark Plug Wires (1, 2) and set them out of the way. Check supporting conditions requirements: gather data on the performance ratio (air flow/water flow) for various operating modes. if the vehicle is equipped for frci egress, instruct that when frci egress exists, hoist down rcs., included to the vehicle's specifications. Then remove the Ignition Coil bolts and coil from bracket, and if needed remove the Ignition Coil bracket bolts and bracket. For installation (if necessary), position the Ignition Coil bracket to the lower Intake Manifold and install bolts by tightening it to 12 nm (106 lb in). Put the Ignition Coil at the top of the bracket and fasten the bolts also tightened them up to 12 (N m/g) (106 lb in). Position the engine wiring harness branches according to the requirement, and connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the Ignition Coil, and position the Spark Plug Wires to the Ignition Coil. Connect the Spark Plug Wires (1, 2) to the Ignition Coil as identified while removing and install the engine wiring harness rear bracket to the upper Intake Manifold and install the bolts with a torque of 10 nm (89 lb in). Install the engine wiring harness clips 1, 2 units to the engine harness brackets and connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the fuel meter body, install the engine wire harness cpa retainer at fuel meter body. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the evap canister purge solenoid valve and the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the MAP Sensor. Lastly, attach the chassis fuel feed pipe quick connect fitting to the engine fuel feed pipe and the air cleaner outlet resonator.
