2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Camshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: The first step to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor is disconnecting its engine wiring harness electrical connector from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor wiring harness jumper. Next, remove the Water Pump. Use the tool to remove both the cmp sensor bolt and the sensor itself from the front engine cover together with the wiring harness jumper. Remove the cmp sensor by disconnecting its wiring harness jumper and taking out the sensor from the jumper. Installing the cmp sensor must include new o-ring installation to the sensor even when reusing the old sensor. The wiring harness jumper needs to join the cmp sensor before connecting this combination to the target sensor position. Clean engine oil should be used to lubricate the o-ring seal before the cmp sensor and jumper harness installation onto the engine front cover. Secure the cmp sensor bolt with 10 nm torque value (89 lb in). To conclude the procedure install the Water Pump followed by connecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the cmp sensor harness jumper.
