    Q:
How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor (except RPOs LY2, LC9, Ly5, and LMG) is to clean the cmp sensor area to keep foreign matter from accessing the engine compartment. Support the vehicle before disconnecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector which is connected to the cmp sensor wire harness. The crankshaft Harmonic Balancer continues in its original position since the instructions show its removal for visual purposes. The first step involves removing two cmp sensor wire harness bolts (738) while loosening the top bolt using a box wrench inserted through the Harmonic Balancer opening and turning it two turns. Unplug the electrical connectors of the cmp sensor wire harness from both the cmp sensor and the cmp actuator magneto before removing the cmp sensor wire harness (737) with cmp sensor (703) and o-ring seal (704). The o-ring must have intact condition before cleaning it with engine oil then placing the sensor. Begin front cover installation of cmp sensor (703) while the cmp sensor wire harness (737) gets positioned after. After joining the cmp sensor wire harness electrical connectors to the sensor and magneto of the cmp actuator install two cmp sensor wire harness bolts (738) and torque them to 12 nm (106 lb in). You should loosely tighten the top cmp sensor wire harness bolt by hand followed by box wrench usage through the Harmonic Balancer opening to achieve an extra 1/4 turn of torque (90 degrees). Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector with the cmp sensor wire harness before lowering the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on Chevrolet Avalanche 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement operation for the Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor should begin with proper vehicle elevation and support installation. Start by removing the engine shield bolts followed by taking out the shield if it has one. The first step involves disconnecting the CMP sensor electrical connector before you proceed to remove the CMP sensor bolt and the CMP sensor from its mounting position. Examine the sensor for wear and cracks and leakage when you do not plan to replace it. During CMP sensor installation inspect the O-ring for damage or wear because any noticed issues mean swapping the O-ring followed by engine oil lubrication before putting the sensor in place. Fasten the CMP sensor into position by using the CMP sensor bolt to reach 12 N.m torque (106 lb in). Before installation of the CMP sensor electrical connector reconnect it then install the engine shield and its bolts when applicable and tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Finally, lower the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on Chevrolet Tahoe? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for camshaft position sensor replacement consists of cleaning around the CMP sensor because dirt might enter the engine. Support the vehicle when elevated and proceed to remove the engine shield. Remove the electrical connector from the engine wiring harness on the CMP sensor wire harness and from the CMP sensor wire harness on the CMP actuator magnet. Use a box wrench to unscrew the CMP sensor wire harness bolt through the crankshaft balancer opening by turning it 2 times before proceeding to remove the additional 2 wires. Use a small tool to pull off the CMP sensor wire harness electrical connector retainer before taking out the CMP sensor wire harness and CMP sensor together with the O-ring seal. Check the O-ring seal for any damage. When the seal is intact, apply clean engine oil on it and fit it onto the sensor. Attach the CMP sensor first to the front cover with following installation of the CMP sensor wire harness. Ensure the CMP sensor wire harness electrical connector has its retainer completely enclose the CMP sensor. After supporting the vehicle restore its height and install and tighten the two rear CMP sensor wire harness bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in). Conduct bolt tightening through the crankshaft balancer opening with a box wrench on the CMP sensor wire harness followed by connector attachments of CMP sensor wire harness electrical connectors to CMP actuator magnet and engine wiring harness electrical connector to CMP sensor wire harness. How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on GMC Yukon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process of Camshaft Position Sensors requires first cleaning around the CMP sensor to stop objects from entering the engine compartment. Start by raising and supporting the vehicle before taking out the engine shield. The engine wiring harness electrical connector needs detachment from the CMP sensor wire harness while the CMP sensor wire harness electrical connector should be separated from the CMP actuator magnet. The crankshaft balancer opening allows access to the CMP sensor wire harness bolt which can be loosened by 2 turns with a box wrench. After loosening, you can remove both remaining bolts to lower the vehicle. A flat-bladed tool will help unlock the CMP sensor wire harness electrical connector retainer that detaches it from the CMP sensor while you remove the wire harness and sensor together with its O-ring seal. First check the O-ring seal for damages. If it remains intact you can apply clean engine oil to the seal before placing it onto the sensor. Install the CMP sensor first onto the front cover while proceeding with second installation of the CMP sensor wire harness. Before moving on with installation, ensure complete retention of the CMP sensor by the connector's retainer when connecting the electrical connector of the CMP sensor wire harness. When the vehicle reaches the correct height raise it again to install both rear CMP sensor wire harness bolts and torque them to 12 Nm (106 lb in). Complete the fixture of the CMP sensor wire harness bolt through the crankshaft balancer opening by using a box wrench prior to connecting the CMP sensor wire harness electrical connector to the CMP actuator magnet and the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the CMP sensor wire harness. Finally, install the engine shield.
