The beginning step of changing the Camshaft Position Sensor demands that individuals first clear the area surrounding the CMP sensor to avoid foreign matter entering the engine. To begin the swap raise the car and disconnect the wiring harness connector that connects engine electrical signals to the CMP sensor wire harness. Launch the CMP sensor wire harness by removing the 3 bolts (738) before disconnecting the electrical connectors linking CMP sensor wire harness to CMP sensor and CMP actuator magnet. After disconnecting the CMP sensor wire harness (737), workers must remove both the sensor (703) and its O-ring seal (704). Check for any cuts or damage on the O-ring seal located in the CMP. If it remains intact you can use this component again. Clean engine oil should be used to lubricate the O-ring seal before installation onto the sensor. You should install the CMP sensor (703) to the front cover before you attach the CMP sensor wire harness (737) and complete the electrical connector attachment to the CMP sensor and the CMP actuator magnet. The CMP sensor wire harness (738) requires installation of three bolts which need to be tightened to 12 Nm (106 lb in). After lowering the vehicle complete the installation by connecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the CMP sensor wire harness.
