How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on GMC Sierra 3500?

The first step for replacing the Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor requires vehicle elevation and support systems according to proper procedures. Start by removing bolts from the engine shield while also removing the shield if it is present. Cut the electrical connector for the CMP sensor before disconnecting the bolt that holds the sensor itself and removing the CMP sensor. Inspect the sensor for potential wear and cracks and leakage when the replacement is not necessary. Check the CMP sensor O-ring for wear and damage before installing it and replace any damaged O-rings with new ones. Replace the damaged O-ring and apply engine oil for lubrication before installing the new O-ring. Secure the CMP sensor onto its bolt position and tighten until it reaches 12 N.m (106 lb in).
