The process of replacing a ZF S6-650 VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) begins with raising the vehicle while providing support. The procedure begins by disconnecting the VSS electrical connector for engines with 6.6L capacity and engines with 8.1L capacity need their VSS electrical connector removed first. Extract the VSS bolt in combination with the sensor as well as the seal. Apply transmission fluid to a new O-ring seal before inserting the VSS and its bolt. Torque the bolt to a setting of 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Connect the VSS electrical connector for the 8.1L engine while connecting the VSS electrical connector for the 6.6L engine. Check the transmission fluid level then add fluid if needed while the vehicle is at its lowest position.
