To replace crankshaft position (CKP) sensor, lift and support the vehicle, unscrew the nut of the fuel line bracket and bracket from the car and hold it with bellhosing stud while you lower the vehicle. Next, take out the driver side rear
Ignition Coil bolts and move the Ignition Coil to another place. Remove the ckp sensor electrical connection and apply penetrating oil around the sensor to soak in it before loosening the ckp sensor bolt. Twist the sensor back and forth and pull it straight up to take out, inspect for wear. Normal wear will show on the wear strips whereas excessive wear will be mirrored on the sensing element requiring replace if discovered. When reusing the old sensor, ensure the two o-rings are damaged and replace them whenever necessary, then lubricate the two rings using clean engine oil. Mount the ckp sensor, making sure it is fully seated against the crankshaft reluctor ring, and apply thread adhesive gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the threads of the ckp sensor bolt prior to installation of the ckp sensor bolt hand tight 12 n.m (106 lb in). Reconnect the electrical connector for the ckp sensor as well as position the rocker cover Ignition Coil and drive side rear Ignition Coil bolts installing with a torque of 12 n.m (106 lb in). Reposition the vehicle onto the hoist to install the fuel line bracket to the nut onto the bellhousing stud locking until 10 n.m (89 lb in) then lowering it back on the ground and perform the ckp system variation learn process.
