Install a new O-ring on the speed sensor and lubricate it with clean transmission fluid.

Start the engine and allow it to idle, checking that the ABS indicator or traction assist indicator remains illuminated.

Coat the NEW O-ring seal with a thin film of transmission fluid, using GM P/N 12346190 (Canadian P/N 10953477) or an equivalent.

Disconnect the input speed sensor electrical connector.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Reattach the WSS cable mounting clips to the knuckle, upper control arm, and frame attachment point.

Ensure to use a NEW O-ring seal and tighten the sensor to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).

Connect the front speed sensor electrical connector.

Install the bolts and tighten them to 11 Nm (96 inch lbs.).

Ensure to install the transfer case right rear speed sensor back onto the transfer case and tighten it to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).

Remove the bolt securing the speed sensor and carefully take out the speed sensor.

Reattach the WSS cable mounting clips to the knuckle, upper control arm, and frame attachment point, then connect the WSS cable electrical connector.

Carefully pull the WSS straight out of the bore without using any prying tools to avoid breaking the sensor body.

Insert the WSS into the hub/bearing assembly, ensuring it is seated flat.

Detach the WSS cable mounting clips from the knuckle, upper control arm, and frame attachment point, followed by disconnecting the WSS cable electrical connector.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the transfer case left rear speed sensor and remove the sensor itself.

Lubricate the input speed sensor seal with automatic transmission fluid.

Lubricate it with transmission fluid.

Remove the output speed sensor bolt and the output speed sensor itself.

Inspect the input speed sensor for any evidence of damage.

Reconnect the electrical connector to the transfer case front speed sensor and lower the vehicle.

Connect the wiring harness electrical connector to the vehicle speed sensor and refill the fluid as required.

Take out the vehicle speed sensor along with the O-ring seal.

Reattach the WSS cable mounting clips to the knuckle, upper control arm, and frame attachment point, then connect the WSS cable electrical connector.

Remove the wheel speed sensor wiring harness retainers and disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.

Tighten it to 17 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).

Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector from the vehicle speed sensor and remove the harness connector.

Take out the vehicle speed sensor along with the O-ring seal.

Do not attempt to remove the stainless steel shim from the bearing assembly, as it is permanently attached.

Install the axle shaft bearing with the J-23690 - Bearing Installer and the J-8092 - Driver Handle, driving it in until the tool bottoms against the tube.

Reconnect the electrical connector and lower the vehicle.

Ensure the wheel speed sensor harness is aligned with the reference mark on the steering knuckle.

Install the VSS and O-ring seal, ensuring to tighten the VSS to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).

First, remove the transfer case shield if it is equipped.

Ensure to follow the fastener notice in service precautions.

The tire and wheel assembly, followed by the brake rotor.

Disconnect the VSS electrical connector and remove the VSS along with the O-ring seal.

Ensure to install the new transfer case left rear speed sensor into the transfer case and tighten it to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

Reconnect the electrical connector and lower the vehicle.

Install the wheel speed sensor harness bracket bolt and tighten it to 9 Nm (80 lb in), followed by the wheel speed sensor harness grommet to the mounting bracket and the harness clips to the suspension upper control arm.

Inspect the O-ring seal for wear and replace it if necessary.

Remove the wheel speed sensor from the hub and bearing assembly.

Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector from the vehicle speed sensor and remove the harness connector.

First, raise the vehicle.

Follow the fastener notice in service precautions.

Begin by removing the harness connector.

Disconnect the VSS electrical connector.

Lightly lubricate the O-ring seal and position it on the speed sensor if it was removed.

First, raise the vehicle and disconnect the electrical connector from the transfer case left rear speed sensor.

The wheel speed sensor retaining bolt and the wheel speed sensor itself.

Do not lubricate the bore.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the transfer case front speed sensor and remove the sensor itself.

Install the new speed sensor and O-ring seal using the J 38417 Speed Sensor Remover, ensuring to coat the seal with a thin film of transmission fluid.

Remove the brake caliper, then the hub and rotor.

Raise and support the vehicle securely.

Install the speed sensor bolt and tighten it to 12 N.m (108 lb in).

Remove the vehicle speed sensor and the O-ring seal.

Reattach the WSS cable mounting clips to the knuckle, upper control arm, and frame attachment point, then connect the WSS cable electrical connector.

First, remove the harness connector and the bolt.

Reconnect the electrical connector to the speed sensor.

Reconnect the electrical connector, reinstall the front propeller shaft, and the transfer case shield before lowering the vehicle.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the transfer case right rear speed sensor and then remove the sensor.

Place the O-ring seal onto the vehicle speed sensor and coat it with a thin film of transmission fluid.

Ensure it is tightened to 17 Nm (13 lb ft) with the O-ring seal.

Disconnect the VSS electrical connector.

Install the bolt and tighten it to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).

Raise and support the vehicle, then remove the tire and wheel.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

Place the O-ring seal onto the VSS and coat it with a thin film of transmission fluid.

Finally, reconnect the electrical connector to the vehicle speed sensor and lower the vehicle.

Align the hole in the retaining bracket with the bolt hole in the speed sensor boss.

Reattach the WSS cable mounting clips, connect the WSS cable electrical connector, reinstall the brake rotor, and put the tire and wheel back on.

Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector and release the electrical connector and sensor harness clips from the inboard frame rail.

Disconnect the electrical connector.

Begin by installing the front speed sensor and tightening it to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).

Disconnect the VSS electrical connector.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the transfer case right rear speed sensor and remove the sensor itself.

Install the bolt and tighten it to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).

Carefully pull the sensor straight out of the bore without using any prying tools to avoid breaking the sensor body.

Coat a NEW O-ring seal with a thin film of Synchro-mesh transmission fluid GM P/N 12345349 (Canadian P/N 10953465) or equivalent.

Reconnect the output speed sensor electrical connector and lower the vehicle.

The transfer case speed sensor is located at the left rear.

Reconnect the left rear speed sensor electrical connector before lowering the vehicle.
