How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2001 Buick Regal?

To remove Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor, first turn off ignition and drain Coolant to the level of ECT Sensor. Remove the sensor electrical connector and carefully take out ECT sensor. When replacing the new ECT sensor, coat the threads with sealer GM P/N 9985253 or equivalent, and make sure the replacement components to be used are the parts that are specified for the application. Torque the ECT sensor to 20 N.m (15 lb ft) and attach the ECT harness connector to the ECT sensor. Finally, refill the cooling system. Touch the coolant sensor with care so that damage will not interfere with the fuel control system and make sure that any coatings that might be applied are only those that are specified so that the final state of torque and operation of component is also not compromised.
