How to replace the Knock Sensor (KS) 1 on 2001 Buick Regal?

To replace the KS 1, first ensure that the ignition is off, drain the cooling system, since there may still remain in the engine water jacket despite draining of the cooling system. Lift the vehicle and remove knock sensor wiring harness connector from the knock sensor. Uninstall the knock sensor from the engine block. Do not apply thread sealant to the threads of the new knock sensor as it comes factory-coated, and adding sealant to it may decline its ability to detect detonation. Mount the knock sensor into the engine block and torque it down to 19 N.m (14 lb ft). Reconnect the knock sensor electrical connector back to knock sensor , lower vehicle , and fill up the cooling system.
