Engine coolant must be drained first because hot fluid causes dangerous burns while some liquid remains trapped in the water jacket during sensor installation. Disconnect the KS electrical connector before extracting the KS. When installing the new KS, do not apply thread sealant to the sensor threads, as it is factory-coated and additional sealant will impair its ability to detect detonation; When installing the new sensor tighten it to 19 N.m (14 lb ft). To complete the installation procedure reconnect the KS electrical connector then lower the vehicle before filling the cooling system.
