2002 Buick Regal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Ignition Control Module on 2002 Buick Regal?
A: Service of the Ignition Control Module requires starting by turning off the ignition. The 14-way electrical connector must be removed from the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and Spark Plug Wires need removal from coil assemblies while keeping track of previous positions. After disconnecting the icm from its bracket users must remove icm nuts followed by taking off the icm. Begin by following the fastener notice in service precautions when installing coils on the icm. Tighten ignition coil screws to a torque spec of 4.5 n.m (40 lb in). Secure the bracket-mounted icm with icm nuts which should reach 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque. You must now connect the Spark Plug Wires to their corresponding ignition coils and bolt down the 14-way electrical connector onto the icm using 2.1 n.m (19 lb in) torque.
