How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2002 Cadillac Seville?

Turn OFF the ignition then drain coolant until it levels under the ECT sensor's position before starting the replacement process. Separate the ECT sensor harness connector then remove the ECT sensor from the vehicle. Touch the new ECT sensor gently while installation to protect it from damage which might disrupt the fuel control system. Replacement components must match the vehicle's application and should only use specified thread locking compounds along with lubricants and corrosion inhibitors or sealants because these materials can potentially affect final torque performance and component function. Apply sealer GM P/N 1050805 or equivalent to the sensor threads before installing the ECT sensor with 20 N.m (15 lb ft) torque value. Reconnect the ECT sensor harness before you beef up the coolant pool.
