How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on Chevrolet Colorado?

In order to replace the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor, partially empty the cooling system to a level below the ect sensor. Break the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the ect sensor electrical connector and remove the ect sensor electrical connector from the camshaft cover with prefection to stay away from ruining the coolant sensor as it would affect the fuel control system. With the help of the ect-sensor-socket (J 45861), carefully remove the ect sensor from the Cylinder Head. In case of installing the original or a new sensor without the sealant, apply thread sealer gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent, and then install the ect sensor into the Cylinder Head with hand. Apply the ect sensor socket (J 45861) and apply 14n.m (10 lb ft) on ect sensor. Connect ect sensor electrical connector to camshaft cover and reconnect engine wiring harness electrical connector to ect sensor electrical connector. Finally, refill the cooling system.

How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on Chevrolet Impala?

To change the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, drain the cooling systems first. Then remove, if needed, the intake manifold cover as well as the exhaust crossover. You need to disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector and dispose of the ECT sensor. For installation, always make sure that replacement components are the part number for the application and if it is necessary, application of thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibiting, or sealants as it is indicated. Seal the threads of ECT sensor with sealer GM P/N 13246004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent and then install the ECT sensor and tighten it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Connect the ECT electric connection and added intake manifold cover back or then install the exhaust crossover. Finally, fill the cooling system.

How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on Chevrolet Malibu?

The first step to change the engine Coolant Temperature Sensor demands draining the cooling system. First disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the engine Coolant Temperature Sensor before removing it from the Thermostat Housing. Install only the specific replacement sensor part number that matches with the intended application. Before sensor installation always treat threads with sealing material if using the initial sensor or a fresh replacement sensor. The ect sensor should be mounted into the Thermostat Housing while applying 20 nm (15 lb ft) of torque. Return the ect sensor electrical connector of the engine wiring harness after connecting it to the sensor and finally replace the cooling system fluid. The fuel control system will suffer if you harm the coolant sensor while conducting your maintenance.

A: In order to replace the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor, partially empty the cooling system to a level below the ect sensor. Break the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the ect sensor electrical connector and remove the ect sensor electrical connector from the camshaft cover with prefection to stay away from ruining the coolant sensor as it would affect the fuel control system. With the help of the ect-sensor-socket (J 45861), carefully remove the ect sensor from the Cylinder Head. In case of installing the original or a new sensor without the sealant, apply thread sealer gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent, and then install the ect sensor into the Cylinder Head with hand. Apply the ect sensor socket (J 45861) and apply 14n.m (10 lb ft) on ect sensor. Connect ect sensor electrical connector to camshaft cover and reconnect engine wiring harness electrical connector to ect sensor electrical connector. Finally, refill the cooling system.
