How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on Chevrolet Colorado?

To replace the engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, one should first partially drain the cooling system to the ect sensor level. Remove the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the ect sensor and carefully remove the ect sensor electrical connector from the camshaft cover without damaging the coolant sensor that could impact the fuel control system. Remove using the j 45861(ECT Sensor Socket) carefully removing the ect sensor from the Cylinder Head. In case installation of the original or new sensor without the sealant, apply thread sealer gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or it's equivalent and the ect sensor, hand thread the Cylinder Head. Use the j 45861 (ECT Sensor Socket) to tighten the ect sensor to a torque of 14 nm (10 lb ft). Replace the ect sensor electrical connector with the camshaft cover and reconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector with the ect sensor. Finally, refill the cooling system.
