Chevrolet Classic Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on Chevrolet Classic?
A: Start by turning off ignition power before draining the coolant system so it drops below the ECT sensor location. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector before carefully removing this sensor. Use sealer P/N 9985253 or equivalent on sensor threads whenever you reinstall your original sensor or a new sensor replacement without a sealer. Secure the ECT sensor using a torque of 10 N.m (89 lb in). Connect ECT sensor wires to their outlet while you refill the engine coolant system with fluid. Be careful when handling the coolant sensor because damage to it will negatively impact the Fuel Control System's operation.
