    A:
As you attempt to replace the Engine Coolant Temp (ECT), first switch off the ignition and manhandle the coolant sensor delicately so as to avoid damages that may impact the stuff of the fuel system. Lift and adequately support the vehicle, and drain below the ECT sensor. Once you have lowered the vehicle, then you disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector and take out the ECT sensor. During the installation, apply a coat of sealer GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent on ECT sensor threads. Make sure that the replacement components have the right part number for the application, as some versions do come with coatings that should not be applied unless stated, as it can impact final torque and component functionality. Install the ECT sensor and tighten to a value of 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Attach the ECT sensor electrical connection and fill the engine coolant.
