Chevrolet Express 1500 Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on Chevrolet Express 1500?
    A:
To replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, turn OFF the ignition and lift the vehicle. Drain the cooling system below the level of ECT sensor and then lower the vehicle. Unplug the ECT sensor's electrical plug and pull the sensor out. For installation, the replacement pieces should be the correct part number for the application, and dress delicately with the coolant sensor as it may damage which will interfere with the fuel control system. Apply GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or like sealer to the ECT sensor threads and install ECT sensor tightening it by 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Lastly, connect the ECT sensor electrical connector and top up the engine coolant.
