Draining the cooling system must be the first step when replacing the engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. There are two processes for this repair. Begin by disconnecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. After that remove the ect sensor from the Thermostat Housing. Before mounting the new or original sensor either apply a sealing compound to the threads or use a compatible sealer. The engine Coolant Temperature Sensor must be installed into the housing and secured at 20 n.m torque strength (15 lb ft). After filling the cooling system reconnect the engine wiring harness to the ect sensor electrical connector. Use the proper part number replacement components alongside specific torque settings to prevent any damage to the fuel control system when working with the coolant sensor.
