How to service the knock sensor on Chevrolet Malibu?

Service the knock sensor after turning OFF ignition then raising the vehicle. Remove the sensor from its position by disconnecting its wiring harness connector that exists on the engine block. You should avoid using thread sealant on the new sensor threads since they come with factory coating that could be damaged by additional sealant materials which might hinder detonation detection. Fasten the knock sensor into position in the engine block using a torque of 19 N.m (14 lb ft). Attach the wiring harness connector to the knock sensor and lower the vehicle.
