How to replace the knock sensor on 2008 Chevrolet Malibu?

Caution must be taken to raise and support the vehicle before replacing the knock sensor. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer from the position and disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the knock sensor jumper wire electrical connector. Start by unplugging the knock sensor jumper wire electrical connector rosebud clip from the oil level indicator tube tab followed by knocking out the knock sensor bolt. During sensor installation, first rotate the pigtail 90 degrees from vertical position before securing its bolt then mount the knock sensor against the engine block while tightening the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Before lowering the vehicle complete the following sequence: attach the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the knock sensor jumper wire electrical connector and secure the connector position assurance retainer before fastening the knock sensor jumper wire electrical connector rosebud clip to the oil level indicator tube tab.
