How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2006 GMC Sierra 1500?

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor replacement starts with lowering the cooling system contents to below sensor level. The ECT sensor electrical connector needs removal before you can take out the sensor while also maintaining sensor protection to prevent fuel control system issues. Before sensor installation check that the selected part matches the specific application requirements. The threads of an old sensor should receive coating using sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or an equivalent product. Tighten the ECT sensor to 20 N.m torque value (15 lb ft). After reconnecting the ECT sensor electrical connector you can proceed with sensor installation along with filling the cooling system according to requirements.
