How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2006 GMC Sierra 1500?

In order to replace Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor, first lift up and support the vehicle adequately. In case applicable, remove the engine shield bolts and then the engine shield. Remove the CKP sensor bolt, deactivate electrical connection of CKP sensors and CKP sensor. While installing the CKP sensor, make sure that it is properly positioned before tightening the bolt to prevent erratic operation and false diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). In case of reusing the old CKP sensor, it is recommended to install a NEW O-ring seal due to the fact that the old O-ring seal should not be reused due to stack reasons. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil and install the CKP sensor and the CKP sensor bolt tighten it to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Return the CKP sensor electrical connector, replace the engine shield and tighten it with the engine shield bolts to the 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Finally, follow the CKP system variation learn.
