In order to replace your Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, start with partial draining of the cooling system. Take care of the coolant sensor; any damage to it will affect the state of operation of the fuel control system system. Remove the ECT sensor cable electric connector and remove the sensor. Coat the threads with one of the sealers: GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) of another type. For installation. Make sure that the replacement components are the right part number for use in the application since some might have coating that should not be applied unless otherwise specified since it can impact the final torque and the operation of the component. Mount the ECT sensor and seat it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Connect the ECT, connect the electrical connector and refill the cooling system.
