How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2005 Chevrolet Astro?

The first step in replacing the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor requires engine ignition turned OFF followed by engine cover removal. First drain coolant under ECT sensor height and disconnect wiring before carefully removing the ECT sensor. Asthe ECT sensor installation begins coat the threads with sealer GM P/N 9985253 or equivalent before tightening to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). After connecting the ECT sensor harness and topping off coolant you should reinstall the engine cover. Keep careful contact with the coolant sensor because any damage will negatively impact the fuel control system and always refer to the Component Fastener Tightening Notice during installation.
