• Q: How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2007 Cadillac DTS?

  A: To replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, one should first detach the fuel injector sight shield and drain the cooling system. In the engine harness electrical connector, the ECT connector would have to be disconnected from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and then remove the ECT sensor. In order to install the new ECT sensor, apply sealant, GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or an equivalent to the sensor threads before installing and tighten to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Connect the engine harness electrical connector to the ECT sensor, fill up the cooling system, and finally, install fuel injector sight shield. Be careful with handling the coolant sensor thereby not to damage it, also it affects the activity of the fuel control system, also use the part number for the replacement components specified for the one mentioned and not to exceed the specified torque while engaging components thus preventing damage.
