• Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) for Bank 1 Sensor 2 on 2007 Cadillac DTS?

  A: To change the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) for Bank 1 Sensor 2: treat the oxygen sensors delicately to prevent their damage, allow the electrical plug-connector and the exhaust inlet-end of the sensor to stay free from contaminants, and do not use cleaning solvents. It will be important to eliminate the HO2S when the engine is over 48 °C (120°F) as it will make its removal more convenient. Start by removing the oxygen sensor wiring harness heat shield and after that, separate the engine harness electrical connector from the HO2S, and take away the sensor as well. When installing, apply a specific anti-seize compound on the HO2S threads, which will be a combination of liquid graphite and glass beads; new or service replacement sensors have this compound applied to them. If using the old HO2S threads, coat with anti-seize compound, GM P/N 12377953 or equivalent prior to re-installing. In this step, re-tighten the sensor at a value of 41 N.M (30 lb ft), reconnect the engine harness electrical connector with HO2S, and finally reattach the oxygen sensor wiring harness heat shield.
