How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2002 Buick Rendezvous?

Before commencing replacement of the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor turn OFF ignition allow coolant drain until below ECT sensor level. Disconnect the wire for power to the sensor and then remove the ECT sensor with caution. Before installing the new sensor check that it matches the correct part number for the application then apply sealer P/N 9985253 or equivalent to the threads. Tighten the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Reconnect the ECT sensor electrical component before refilling the cooling system components. The sensor demands careful handling since any damage will impair fuel system operation while correct torque specs must be followed to prevent harm.
