2005 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2005 Chevrolet Impala?
A: To replace engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor, start by draining the cooling system partially. Next, remove the Thermostat Housing and disconnect the ect sensor electrical connector before you pull off the ect sensor. For installation, apply to the threads of the new ect sensor a sealer gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or one that is comparable. Make sure replacement components are the correct part number to be used in the application because certain components such as thread locking compounds, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, and sealants, can influence final torque and component workings. Mount the ect sensor and tighten it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Reconnect the ect sensor electrical connector; reinstall the Thermostat Housing; and fill the cooling system.
