2004 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?
A: To change the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor, first switch off the ignition and drain the coolant down below ECT Sensor level. Disconnect the ECT sensor harness and remove the ECT sensor out. In installing the new ECT sensor, apply sealer GM P/N 1050805, or the equivalent, to the sensor threads and then install the sensor ECT and tighten to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Then, plug in the ECT sensor harness connector and replace the coolant in the system. Handle the coolant sensor carefully since its damage will impact the operation of the fuel control system as well as make sure that replacement parts have the right number of part to ensure it works as specified, and apply the specified torque to prevent damage.
