2004 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ignition coil for Bank 1 on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?
A: Start the bank 1 Ignition Coil replacement by first lifting the Ignition Coil cover from the cam cover straight up when the sight shield for the fuel injectors is present. You can reach individual coils by disconnecting both secondary air injection (AIR) vent solenoid electrical connector and air check valve when needed. Disconnect the Ignition Coil wiring harness electrical connector from the coil you want to replace before you use a wrench to remove the Ignition Coil retaining bolt and extract the Ignition Coil carefully. Extract the new Ignition Coil assembly when all coils are being replaced by first cutting power at the cam cover cam then unbolt and take out coil assembly retaining hardware before proceeding with coil assembly removal. Mount the spark plug seals first then install the Ignition Coil assembly before securing the coil assembly retaining bolts and studs with 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque. After hooking up the main coil wiring harness at the cam cover you should install the Ignition Coil along with its retaining bolt while tightening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reinstall the Ignition Coil electrical connector and the air vent solenoid electrical connector when disconnected while reinstalling the air check valve if you took it out. You must install the Ignition Coil cover to the cam cover when equipped and restore the fuel injector sight shield.
