How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2009 Buick Lucerne?

The cooling system requires draining using either Vac-N-Fill or Static Fill method before starting Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor replacement. The process requires the removal of the intake manifold cover if needed. Disconnect the sensor electrical wires from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor then detach the ECT sensor. Before installing the new ECT sensor double-check its correct part numbers then coat the threads with GM P/N 13246004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) sealer or an equivalent material. After securing the ECT sensor with a torque of 20 Nm (15 lb ft), reconnect the ECT electrical connector. You must put back the intake manifold cover if it was taken off. To complete the procedure you must fill the cooling system through either Vac-N-Fill or Static Fill techniques.
