2000 Cadillac Seville Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front engine mount on 2000 Cadillac Seville?
A: The first step when replacing the front Engine Mount involves taking away the radiator cooling fans. Start with engine lift bracket (J 42504) installation followed by the engine support fixture adapters (J 42478) and the engine support fixture (J 28467-A). Lifting the vehicle and supporting its weight you must take out the mounting bracket nuts from the engine block and transaxle bolt as well as the mount frame nut. Drop the vehicle and take off the two upper bolts which fasten the Engine Mount bracket to the motor before removing the mount and bracket. Begin by fitting the mount and bracket then add the two upper bolts that will anchor the mount bracket to the engine. Next raise the vehicle while supporting it then put in the engine support brace before loosely securing both nuts which anchor the support brace with the bolt. Tightening of nuts and bolts should proceed as follows: start with mounting left bracket at 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.), move to mounting right bracket at 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.), next do engine brace bolt at 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.), followed by 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.) on the mount nut and ending with 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) on the two upper mount brace bolts. Lower the vehicle to remove engine support fixture (J 28467-A), engine support fixture adapters (J 42478) and engine lift bracket (J 42504). Reinstall the cooling fans of the radiator as the last step.
