You need to raise and shift the front seat assembly ahead to take out the fasteners from the rear part of the front seat cushion assembly. The j 38778 door trim pad clip remover (J 38778) allows for removal of the rear fasteners. The front seat assembly should be moved towards the rear portion of the vehicle while you carefully tip the front of the front seat cushion to reveal the rest of the fasteners before removing them. The first step is to detach the heated seat cushion electrical connector and separate the air lines from adaptive lumbar if equipped with kc3 and ac9 while detaching wire harness retainers from the floor of the seat cushion frame. First disconnect the lumbar switch knob before removing knobs from the Seat Switch as well as from the Seat Switch trim plate. Use j 38778 to remove switch bracket retainers after you expose the Seat Switch under the front seat cushion cover. The switch mounting bracket can be detached by opening its locking tabs to pull out the switches and bracket assembly from the seat bottom frame. At the beginning of installation install the Seat Switch to the seat cushion frame followed by pulling the seat cushion cover over the switch while making hole alignments. Install the j channels to seat cushion frame before placing the Seat Switch trim plate bezel and fastening the knobs to each switch. First connect the electrical connectors for the heated seat cushions if ka1 is installed then continue with the air line attachment for adaptive lumbar support if the system is equipped with ac9 after which wire harnesses and air line connection to the seat cushion framework takes place. After fixing the seat cushion assembly to the seat riser you should install its front fasteners. Use the upward adjustment of the front seat assembly along with its forwards movement to reach the rear fasteners before fastening them and tightening all hardware points to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Endpoint the front of the front seat cushion while tightening the front fasteners to match the specifications and enabling the sir system.
